2020 has been quite an extraordinary year for everyone, and ABUD is no exception to that. Despite the difficulties, we proudly celebrate many remarkable achievements and new areas we set foot in.
First, and foremost we started sailing on international waters with some rather exceptional names in the architecture industry such as BIG, Zaha Hadid Architects or Mario Cucinella Architects. Furthermore, we started an exciting long-term collaboration with Kirk Architects focusing on the South-East Asian region. We will come back with details in 2021….
Secondly, our team was expanded by 10 new colleagues from 6different countries, and with exciting skills to enrich the ABUD pool of competencies with for instance advanced parametric design, microclimate analysis, public awareness on climate strategy or the social aspects of sustainability just to mention a few. These valuable skills are already in use in various projects, enabling us to be ever more holistic in sustainable consultancy and research.
We have been working on a really colourful palette of projects, including our first ever product development work: the Eron Smart Facade for Rolla Art! We have also become part of the cross-national EU project Syn.ikia, aiming to achieve sustainable plus energy neighbourhoods at four demo locations across Europe. We love doing research projects for our partners and find it important to develop ideas in-house as well, therefore we established our very own Innovation Management department to nurture in-house innovation projects. Our colleagues have also worked on a number of scientific papers that add to the global discussion on sustainability, and are published in various renown journals. Despite the constrains caused by the pandemic, in 2020 we participated in many inspirational conferences and scientific events, such as EcoWeek’20 or the EURESTORE training school.
We would like to thank our clients for the inspiring and challenging projects, our partners for the continuous professional cooperation and of course our wonderful team of sustainability superheroes! We hope 2021 will bring brighter days for all and even more invigorating projects for us!
