URBAN ECOLOGY: THE GREEN WITHIN THE CITY – TRAINING COURSE

We are delighted that our Consultant, Francisca Tapia will take part in the training course entitled “Urban Ecology: the green within the city” to be held in Lisbon from 25-29 July. Co-organized by cE3c (Centre for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes), the University of Sevilla and COST Action Circular City, the course will provide current and practical knowledge on urban ecology, including its ecological and social aspects.

The training course will focus on the importance of a social-ecological perspective in an urban environment through 1) the use of ecological indicators, 2) analysis of people’s perceptions and 3) evaluation of environmental trends and circular economy.

We believe that Nature-based solutions (NbS) are important factors in facing the challenges posed by urbanization and climate change, and as such, need to be included in every decision-making process. The opportunity will allow Francisca to deepen her knowledge about the role of green infrastructure in urban ecology, evaluate NbS concept trends and criticize their role in urbanization as key tools for resilience and environmental transformation. In addition, it will also help refine her PhD research outline, which is part of ABUD’s larger research endeavors on NbS. Congratulations!
