BUILDING FOR REVIVAL: Nature-based Solutions for Resilient Cities Conference
On 2 June 2023, ABUD co-organized a conference about nature-based solutions (NbS) together with Építészfórum
The one-day event was held outdoors in the beautiful and historic ELTE Botanic Garden. It was organised jointly with Építészfórum, Hungary’s leading online architectural magazine as part of the Festival of Architecture (Építészfesztivál) in Hungary. The event served as the closure of our series of articles about NbS on Építészfórum.
We are grateful for our speakers for their insightful presentations and for our audience for staying with us despite the weather conditions. We were delighted to welcome Hungarian governmental bodies, decision and policy makers, real estate developers, architects, landscape architects, sustainability consultants, sociologists, researchers and academia.
The aim of the conference was to highlight the significance and versatility of nature-based solutions (NbS) in urban planning and their potential in climate change mitigation. We started by reviewing NbS Design methodology, best practice examples through local and international projects and finally the readily available building blocks that professionals can work with when implementing green infrastructure.
Our aspiration was to raise awareness of the transformative power of NbS and the cross-sectoral value of these solutions designed and implemented in a holistic approach. Furthermore, the solutions our speakers presented hopefully enables the wider uptake of NbS within different sectors.
The videos of the presentations will be available (together with their translations) in the coming weeks.
