9TH INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC CONFERENCE ON PLACES AND TECHNOLOGIES

Our CEO, Dr. András Reith gave a keynote speech and participated in the roundtable discussions at the 9th International Academic Conference on Places and Technologies, following an invitation from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology of the University of Pécs. The event took place between 8-9 July 2024, in Pécs, Hungary.

With the increasing global population and rapid urbanisation, the conference emphasized interdisciplinary discussions on affordable living and liveable urban environments. It aimed to explore methodologies and design ideas to enhance the liveability of built environments, considering the needs and expectations of inhabitants. Guiding principles such as accessibility, safety, comfort, and participation were highlighted as crucial for urban design. The conference brought together multiple academic disciplines to discuss urban form, human behavior in design, preservation, and future technologies to ensure livable environments.

Keynote speech by Dr. András Reith PhD

Beauty is no longer enough to judge the built environment. What’s the role of an architect in the face of today’s most pressing issues, such as climate change and excessive urbanisation? Are architects a blessing or a curse? The keynote speech focused on the responsibility of architects to go beyond mere aesthetics and make informed decisions to ensure that their work makes a positive contribution to sustainability, resilience and societal well-being.

As part of the conference programme, a roundtable discussion was held with the participation of illustruous industry experts, such as Olga Mihalikova, Prof. Arch. Adolfo F. L. Baratta PhD and Prof. Dr. Gábor Zoboki DLA habil and Dr. András Reith PhD. The vivid discussion focused on sharing insights on how we can leverage technology to create more livable urban environments.
