On 22-27th September 2016, our colleague, Zsófia Bélafi participated in a workshop and conference on building performance simulation (BPS) and sustainable architecture at the NTNU University, Trondheim, Norway.
The events were hosted by Professor Vojislav Novakovic, an internationally recognized expert of occupant behavior modelling. The conference was organized by the Northern chapter of International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA-Nordic). At the conference, Zsófia presented the core findings of a questionnaire survey project aiming to quantify the differences of energy-related occupant behavior in different countries and cultures (an ongoing research project conducted in cooperation with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the University of Tennessee). Afterwards, Zsófia led a workshop entitled ’How to handle Occupant behavior in BPS’ which provided useful food-for-thought on the future direction of research and current gaps in literature. Also the and the importance of multidisciplinary research was highlighted ba many workshop participants. We are proud to announce, that an award was presented to Zsófia for her ’Outstanding research work and talent in the field of building performance simulation’ by Jorgen Christensen. Zsófia Bélafi’s attendance was funded by EEA Grants.
