András Szollár, senior consultant and Péter Horváth, HVAC expert prepared an engaging educational workshop, where participants could learn how the cooling effect of plants can reduce the usage of HVAC systems. The aim was to recreate the complex, multi-disciplinary process that leads to the commercialized use of this innovative method. Participants played the roles of engineers, developers, architects and sustainability consultants, providing specific information to other actors and finally coming to the decision whether to invest in a nature-based cooling system in their office building project or not.
Participants took their role seriously and due to their comments during the game, the workshop provided new perspectives on the topic for us as well. We are proud of the appreciative feedback of the enthusiastic audience (quoted by some as “best workshop in the conference”) and thankful for the opportunity to the organizers.
