New districts are emerging, abandoned areas are getting a new lease of life, the existing cityscape is changing, and all this in a framework where huge projects, numerous property developments, and new public spaces and parks all contribute to creating a better, more liveable city. As our environment, our properties and our cities are transformed, the time for change in transportation is also here: the role of cars in transportation is decreasing or changing, foreshadowed by the appearance of self-driving cars and the sharing of transportation. As is always the case with innovation, we might face unforeseen hazards and problems along the way. How does a responsible urban planner think today? What international experiences are available, and which way should Budapest head? When can we expect the fist autonomous cars, and are we even ready for their use?
