We were honored to be the guest of the research centres ZEB – Zero Energy Building Centre and ZEN – Zero Emission Neighborhoods in Smart Cities in Trondheim, Norway. The provided an opportunity to discuss the economic and technological possibilities and challenges of Zero Emission buildings and neighborhoods.
ZEB (2009-17) is an industry-oriented research initiative focusing on competitive product development that will lead zero emission buildings to market penetration. The consortium includes contractors, producers, architectural consultancy groups, trade organisations, property management companies, university research institutes and public administration bodies. Thanks to our host, NTNU, our colleagues visited demo sites and a living laboratory. To upscale the impact of the project, the initiative launched ZEN (2017-24), focusing on zero emission and smart solutions on a neighborhood scale, with 7 demo projects.
On 18th of April, Francesco Goia, Associate Professor in Building Physics and Material Science at NTNU visited us to present their results and plans. Due to our similar focus and approach in the field, the exchange is a starting point of a promising cooperation.
