The facade plays a crucial role in the appearance of buildings. This surface conveys the first message about a given building. In case this message is not convincing enough, the building’s appreciation, value and marketability deteriorates dramatically. Besides aesthetic value, the building shell separates the external spaces and environment from indoor areas. During the past century and especially in the past few decades, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of requirements posed for this building structure. Previously, the key aspect was the protection of indoor spaces from prevailing weather conditions and the creation of a relatively stable indoor environment. Nowadays, the insulation level, daylight management, acoustics, radiation protection and continuously adjustable features are basic requirements in connection with facades.
We believe that a good facade can not only sell the building, but ensure its healthy usage and cost-effective operation. We provide services that support the entire process, from the first design ideas of a facade’s birth to the construction phase and final adjustments.
Among our references, we have encountered several special tasks besides traditional facade design and consultancy: extraordinary geometry (e.g.: curved surfaces, nurbs); special installation environments (e.g.: underwater); unique structures (e.g.: glass, steel-glass hybrid structures). We particularly favour those tasks where facade design is associated with the research and development of unique building solutions.
It is of enormous importance to us that the facade serves not as an unattached and independent part of the building, but that it forms an integral part of it in constant interaction both with the environment and the internal operation.
