The NewTREND project partners met in Budapest on the 2nd and 3rd of March for the NewTREND 6th monthly meeting.
The first day was devoted to a review of the WP progress, while on the morning of the second day, the team visited the Budapest Demo site. The project is located in Pestszentlőrinc, in the 18th district of Budapest where the municipality is engaged in several energy retrofitting projects running in parallel. One of the most complex projects of the district is the refurbishment of the Eötvös Lorand Primary School. The school was built between 1963 and 1965 along with the construction of the surrounding Lakatos housing estate. Since then no major refurbishment has been conducted on the building.
During the site visit the headmaster of the school, the representatives of the municipality and the facility managers described the present state of the building, the main deficiencies and the current refurbishment plans. The team got familiar with the operation of the district heating system serving the school, visited classrooms, the gym hall and the newly installed PV panels on the roof and discussed the possible applications of the NewTREND tool for the design and operation of the building. The NewTREND project will support the refurbishment by providing IDP support, BIM modelling and the optimization of intervention possibilities.
The team also visited 2 other other possible intervention areas, a social housing and a primary school, where after a brief project description the possible collaborations with NewTREND were discussed. On the afternoon of the second day, two parallel workshops were held on technical development of the NewTREND methodology and tools.
