Climate Strategy for Budapest District 18

Development of climate strategy and public awareness campaigns

The 18th district of Budapest has been progessing the sustainable agenda for years. The municipality has now decided to develop a local strategy on climate change, with the support of ABUD.

The climate strategy for the 18th district of Budapest will set out the objectives and frameworks for local action on climate change. After the assessment of current emission levels and most endangered natural and built resources, we set up targets and actions in the areas of adaptation, mitigation and citizen-empowerment with participatory methodologies.

The project puts particular emphasis on the interactive involvement of residents through campaigns and events.

Our overall aim is to support the municipality to lead by example and to continue to review and reduce its impact on the environment as an organisation, and to support local residents, communities and businesses in building climate resilience, reducing carbon emissions and costs from energy use.

As part of engageing citizens to participate, we organized a Climate Cup for schools and kindergartens with special challenges.
