Family House in Budapest

Energy Retrofitting

The family house was built in the 1990’s, and extended in 2003. In 2012, ABUD was commissioned to analyse the current energy consumption patterns of the building and to provide consultancy on the optimization of the energy expenses of the family.

Based on the existing building construction and HVAC characteristics, a dynamic building energy model was prepared and the yearly energy consumption data was compared with and validated by the actual utility bills. The validated model was used to estimate the energy saving potential of the proposed energy-efficiency measures. 7 options were examined, the best option provided 51% energy saving.
