Taiwan Tower

International design competition

An international architectural design competition for the “Taiwan Tower” skyscraper, organised by the City of Taichung. The high-rise building, designed for this competition, was intended to be built for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the declaration of the independent state of Taiwan.

Taiwan Tower was designed to take advantage of the unique environmental circumstances of skyscrapers by harvesting solar and wind energy and stormwater through an innovative, reactive building skin. The form of the tower was created to react to the impacts of the environmental conditions that surround it.
