SUSTAINABILITY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR REDUCING THE ENERGY NEED OF OFFICE AND COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS

The following document has been prepared by the experts of ABUD and of the Hungarian Real Estate Developers’ Round Table (IFK – Ingatlanfejlesztői Kerekasztal Egyesület) as a set of key recommendations for reducing the energy demand of office and commercial buildings.

This is the first time in Hungary that uniform professional recommendations for reducing energy consumption have been formulated, taking into account the entire construction process of commercial and office buildings. This unique document focuses on how office and commercial buildings can be constructed and operated with the lowest possible installed capacity, and offers concrete recommendations aimed at the stakeholders involved in every step of the development, such as the investors, developers, architects, consultants, tenants (building users), building operators, public utility service providers, government authorities and legislators.

This recommendation therefore applies to the entire real estate sector, as it helps to optimise energy capacities, improve sustainability and contribute to the real estate market competitiveness of the property market.
