Climate Strategy for Budapest 14th District

With the support of ABUD Zugló, 14th district of Budapest has launched it’s Green Zugló Community Climate Strategy project.

Zugló, the 14th district of Budapest has launched it’s Green Zugló Community Climate Strategy project. With the support of ABUD, the municipality has developed its own strategy regarding the issue of climate change, by tackling its causes and reducing its effects locally – and what makes the initiative really significant is the fact that it will be realised in collaboration with local residents.

By the development of the Climate Strategy Zugló will work out a medium-term plan enabling it to overcome the respective climate challenges successfully.

The Strategy affects two main areas: the reduction of the impact of climate change mainly by cutting down the emission of greenhouse gases, and the adaptation of the built environment to the effects of climate change. With the help of local organisations, the municipality will determine distinctive local challenges, and also local residents will be involved from the beginning through surveys and other means.
To collect ideas addressing local challenges, a competition of climate-conscious ideas was held in the summer (A Szomszéd Mindig Zöldebb), while in the autumn a competition for kindergartens (Klíma Kupa) and schools was launched. All concepts were developed and carried out by ABUD.
As the partner responsible for the professional implementation of the project, ABUD co-authors the Strategy and related awareness-raising programmes. In close partnership with the Client, we coordinate the project, including the process of citizen participation and engagement, and the public events.
