Sustainability design support

ABUD provided design support based on BREEAM NC criteria and a wide range of technical analyses. Due to the special perforation of the „floated” roof, several versions of daylight analyses were needed to evaluate the natural lighting conditions under the roof, including variations of skylight percentage, glazing properties and shading options.

Complex building energy modeling versions were also run for every option, with respect to building envelope insulation and complex building services optimisation, estimating energy consumption, primer energy use and CO2 emissions. As part of appraising each option, HVAC solutions and artificial lighting options were also analysed, and thermal comfort was evaluated to establish the most suitable combination of active and passive measures. The decision-making process was supported by financial calculations, taking investment, maintenance, and energy costs into consideration, and culminating in internal rate of return figures for each option. ABUD also organized BREEAM certification training for the stakeholders of the project.
