New Transport Museum, Budapest

Project summary

The new Transport Museum is being built at the former Északi Járműjavító in Budapest, turning a brownfield into a cultural landmark. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro with M‑Teampannon, it preserves the historic Diesel Hall and adds a glass‑and‑steel extension merging exhibition and context. Highlights include rolling‑stock exhibits breaking through the façade, amphitheatre foyers, and public spaces connecting interior and city. Landscape design recalls transport history with tracks, plantings, and an evolving ecological park.

ABUD supported the project by providing LEED design stage consultancy and energy modeling, for acquiring the LEED v4 BD+C New Construction certification.
