Sustainability Strategy for Budapest Airport (BUD)

Laying the groundwork for future-proof, long-term developments for Budapest Airport that meet the resilient sustainability expectations of our time.

The aim of the project was for Budapest Airport (BUD) to become a leader in terms of sustainability performance among regional international airports, in line with the objectives set out in the airport’s ESG strategy and sustainability regulatory frameworks.

We prepared a comprehensive sustainability strategy and detailed sustainability design guideline for the planned developments. The scope of work included thorough research into ESG criteria and the restrictive EU regulatory framework.

Evaluations were carried out to assess the potential for natural ventilation, energy supply systems, energy source mix, green operations, environmentally-conscious materials, energy consumption, and sustainable waste and water management.

In addition, among others, preliminary solar insolation, climate change analyses and wind flow simulations were carried out to ensure the highest standards of sustainability and efficiency.
