BIO4EEB Project’s 2nd General Assembly in Madrid

The meeting was held on 13-14 June 2023 to review the progress made so far within the project

The BIO4EEB project, funded by Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, held a meeting in Madrid on 13-14 June 2023 to discuss the development of bio-based insulation materials for buildings.

The project aims to create adaptable solutions using non-hazardous materials like Posidonia and bio-based foams. It will test these materials on real and virtual pilot sites across Europe to validate their marketability and support the use of sustainable materials in renovation projects.

The meeting focused on various aspects of the project, including technological context, user segmentation, and market understanding. Progress in developing bio-based materials was presented, along with implementation plans for demo sites. ABUD is responsible for socio-economic assessment and end users’ segmentation within the project, moreover, future work was discussed where we will mainly contribute to WP4 concerning the  demonstration and cost-effectiveness of the solutions. It was very useful to see our partners – who also develop bio-based solutions – presented their products and progress. The meeting also covered exploitation, market analysis, and communication strategies.

The project’s participation in the Sustainable Places conference in Madrid further explored energy efficiency and the adoption of circular and bio-based solutions in construction.
